Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the New York archbishop, spoke Monday about the administration of Pope Francis and how his death after Easter was “providential.”

“Praise God Almighty, for the gift he was, for the Church, the world, for us,” Dollan said during a morning mass in the cathedral of St. Patrick in Manhattan.

Dolan said that in the last months of the Pope he could barely move, but it was when he became the most eloquent by continuing to spread the word of the Gospel and “allow us to see him die.”

The Cardinal Also release A Full Statement, Saying, “I Join With People All Over The World, Not only Catholics, But People of All Faiths or None At All, In Mourning The Passing of Oure Beloved Pope Francis This Morning. “I had the honor of participating in the conclave that chose Pope Francis in 2013, and having received it here to New York in 2015. He touched us all with his simplicity, with his heart of a humble servant. Trusting in the mercy of Jesus, even now, even now, enjoying his eternal reward in heaven.

“The eternal rest is granted to him, oh Lord, and lets the perpetual light shine on him.

“That his soul, and the souls of all the faithful left, rest in peace.”
