Tory Laznez, in prison by Megan Thee Stallion Shooting, hospitalized after the attack of his fellow inmate

Tory Laznez was hospitalized on Monday after a inmate partner in the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi attacked the rapper around 7:20 am local time, he told ABC News to ABC News, a prison spokesman.

“The staff responded immediately, activated 911 and began medical aid. Peterson was subsequently transported to an external medical center for additional treatment,” said the spokesman.

The rapper, whose legal name is Daytar Peterson, is serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting and hurting his hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion, whose legal name is Megan Pete, in July 2020.

The prison spokesman gave no more comments when asked about the nature of Peterson’s wounds, if he was discharged from the hospital or if a suspect has been accused in the attack.

Crystal Morgan, a lawyer who represents Peterson, confirmed to ABC News that the rapper was attacked in the correctional center and said that until Monday afternoon he remains hospitalized.

Morgan said that he has not been able to obtain any information about his injuries or his condition and that he is “in the dark” like everyone else. Morgan added that he called Peterson’s family to notify the attack.

The Prison Investigation Services Unit and Kern’s County District Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the incident, while the inspector general’s office has been notified, said the spokesman.

ABC News has communicated with the district prosecutor’s office to obtain additional comments.

Peterson was convicted on December 23, 2022, of three positions to shoot and hurt Pete on both feet when they left a party in the Hollywood hills on July 12, 2020.

Initially he was accused in October 2020 of a serious assault crime with a semi -automatic firearm (personal use of a firearm) and transporting a loaded firearm and not registered in a vehicle, according to loading documents obtained by ABC News.

He was also accused before his trial in December 2022 with an additional count of serious crimes to download a firearm with serious negligence. LANEZ, who decided not to take the position of the witnesses during the trial, declared himself innocent of the three positions.

His defense lawyers argued during the trial that Lanez was not the shooter and has maintained his innocence in multiple publications on social networks since his sentence last year.

During his sentence hearing, prosecutors read a declaration of impact of Pete, who testified during the trial, in which he asked Peterson to “be forced to face the full consequences of their heinous actions and face justice.”

“Not only did he shoot me, he made fun of my trauma. He tried to position himself as a victim and set out to destroy my character and my soul,” Pete said in his impact statement.

Peterson was denied the bond for a judge of the Superior Court of the Los Angeles County on September 14, 2023, since his legal team appeals his 10 -year sentence.
